It has been said of Bobby Brooks Wilson:
“Watching this dynamic entertainer is sheer delight as he energizes every moment on stage. His creativity and high-energy performance is magnificent as he glides easily through his five-octave range and moves rhythmically through the dance.”

Bobby was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina by a wonderful foster mother who has cared for over 400 children in her home since 1941. If not for the foster care system in place and his loving mother he would not be doing what he loves today, his music.

He married, had a son, Robert Jr. and later another son Myles Ikiaka Loa. Bobby finished high school and college. After college he joined the Navy to become an Electronic Tech.
After finishing his tour with the Navy he found himself singing in a karaoke bar, which had become a hobby and a part time job. The music grabbed hold of him and the hobby became a passion, so he became an owner in the Karaoke business with partner Faline Kini. It was during a Karaoke Show he was doing one night that Peter Hernandez (which produced The Love Notes Doo Wop Show in Waikiki Beach, Hawaii) happened by and took a liking to his vocal style. Peter asked him to be part of the show, which at that time featured 6 year old Little Elvis. Later in life Little Elvis would become pop star, Bruno Mars.

Word got out about the show quickly. During one show, owners of Legends in Concert, Paul Revere of Paul Revere and The Raiders and John Stuart, world renowned Show Producers got a chance to see Bobby in action on stage.

They liked what they saw on stage and asked Bobby to play Jackie Wilson in their show because of his likeness and vocal sound to Jackie. Paul Revere was a friend of Jackie Wilson and really liked Bobby’s style and vocal on stage. Bobby had a lot of Jackie’s moves on stage that came naturally without even realizing it. To do a better job of the tribute to Jackie Wilson he tried to find all he could about Jackie Wilson. He found that there was not a lot out there about Jackie. He did find one of Jackie’s appearances on Shindig to learn from. From there he worked on his show.

Bobby started his tribute to Jackie Wilson on the show. A buzz was instantly created around the business of Bobby’s resemblance and sound of Jackie Wilson. It was almost like Jackie was on stage performing and that opened eyes to his talent. The excitement he was creating on stage intrigued the members of the Jackie Wilson family so much that they came out to find out who Bobby was and where he came from, because as far as they were concerned, there was only one Jackie Wilson and he was gone. They were astounded, not only of the resemblance, but the sound that came from Bobby. It was like they were seeing Jackie on stage again.

After the family and he had a chance to meet and talk they found where the resemblance and vocal came from. Bobby was family.

Bobby is recognized by the Jackie Wilson family as one of the sons and a family member that wants to preserve the Jackie Wilson name. He maintains an active performance schedule to keep the Jackie Wilson Legacy alive worldwide.

Bobby has opened or performed with legendary performers such as The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Contours, Martha Reeve, Dion Warwick, Paul Revere, Bill Medley, and many more.
